Here is the Church

Here is the Steeple

Our Doors are Open

Come Meet all the People

This little rhyme from one of our communication pamphlets a few years ago gets to the point. It is the people who make a church. Charleswood United Church has known that for 84 years when faithful people formed the Union Church in Charleswood and began to worship in April 1922.

Since then countless people have come through the doors of Charleswood United. They have come to sing, to pray, to learn, to laugh, to comfort, to serve, and to simply be. Ours is a broad and diverse ministry where people are met where they are and invited to consider how God is there too.

But we needed room for all the people. Room to be together in one place at one time.  Room to move easily in and around one another. Room for the community of Charleswood to gather for special occasions.

After years of thought, prayer, discussion, and discernment we prepared to make room, undertaking the most significant undertaking since the construction of the present sanctuary in 1960. Now the addition  is done but our journey has just begun.

The ministry of Charleswood United Church matters to many people. It matters to people who gather regularly for worship and study. It matters to those we serve in this community. It matters to those for whom Charleswood has been a gathering place in life’s most joyous and most difficult moments.

Please look to the future with us as we enter a time of tremendous excitement and opportunity.

Grace and peace,
